Carbon Footprint Certification Program
Airport Carbon Accreditation is the Airport Council International (ACI) carbon footprint certification programme that certifies airport carbon footprint calculations and the evolution of the commitment made in terms of CO2 reduction.
According to Aena's roadmap to be Net Zero by 2030, which is based on the accreditation of 19 airports in the network at ACA level 4+ in 2026 and level 5 in 2030, the company has 19 airports participating in the programme since 2025. This translates into the certification of more than 94% of the emissions of the airport network managed by Aena.
The ACA accreditation process for the 19 airports is completed in two phases during the year. In the first half of the year, Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, Palma de Mallorca, Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández, Málaga-Costa del Sol, Ibiza, Menorca, César Manrique-Lanzarote and Santiago-Rosalía de Castro airports will be certified. In the second half of the year, Valencia, Seville, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Tenerife South, Tenerife North-Ciudad de La Laguna, Bilbao, La Palma, El Hierro and La Gomera airports will be certified.
