Biomad

This is a Research and Development Project (R&DP) to develop a system for a contactless airport experience using facial recognition with mobile technology to improve the airport process without compromising the level of security, providing a reduction of current processes that may be associated with a higher level of risk.

Consortium partner between IBERIA, AENA IECISA and THALES.

Innovative air mobility

Autonomous Airbridges

It will address the challenge of increasing levels of automation of ground operations so airbridges can operate autonomously in the near future fully integrated with the rest of the processes that impact airport operations. The project is conceived around the following four interconnected solutions, which will make it possible to generate a new airbridge system with a capacity for autonomy that does not yet exist today:

  • Automatic airbridge docking and undocking.
  • Airbridge parking position optimisation.
  • Operator management automation.
  • Obstacle detection during operation.

Deadline for implementation: May 2022 - May 2025.

Partners: TKAS, Aena.
